    Linking Tutorial

A web site with great content is a resource that everyone loves, and other site owners will “link” to your site if they like your content. It is “good manners” to link back to them – this is called “link exchange....”

    Linking

One of the most important, and easiest, things you can do to “get noticed” by search engines is to “link” with other web sites.

How does this work? By a complicated system of algorithms, Google and other search engines look at each site according to its content, and its popularity. A web site with great content is a resource that everyone loves, and other site owners will “link” to your site if they like your content. It is “good manners” to link back to them – this is called “link exchange.”

When many sites link to you, your importance in searches rises, eventually putting you in that top ten or twenty results – which is where you want to be! Remember, most people searching will search the first 10 or 20 results, and will usually find what they want and abandon further searching.

You can get “incoming links,” or, links that point to your web site, in many ways. Here are a few ideas to get you started:

    1. Write to other webmasters that have similar sites, or sites that are in the same category as yours. Ask them to link to your site, and offer to reciprocate with a link to their site, from yours. If the site is very popular, you may even want to offer to write an article featuring their site, since a high-quality site linking to yours carries more weight.

    2. You can also get incoming links to your site by adding your site to directories about your topic. If your site is about “cars,” do a search for “submit link cars” This should give you many dozens of sites that will allow you to add your link at their site for free

    3. There are many other linking tools you can use, two of which are covered in depth in the “press release” and “forum posts” sections.

This part of marketing your site is the most intense. I can take months to get several hundred incoming links to your site – but it is WELL worth the effort. Once you have accomplished this, you will be receiving thousands of visitors every day. This is your end goal, and will be the “turning” point to start creating consistent, worthwhile income.

** The most successful site launch I have done to date is at my www.camphalfprice.com site. Within six months, I had over 200 links coming to my site from quality sites. I cheated a bit. I went ahead and purchased an automated system to help me mass “find” and email the sites that were worth getting links from.

You can purchase the same software from the “Client Tools” area of Louisiana-websites.com

Their sales pages explains thoroughly how the software works. If I had to choose just ONE place to start marketing, this would be where I would start (and where I DO start, with each new site).
